Take action for global justice and accountability
No one is above the law. The Trump administration is challenging this fundamental notion by attacking the International Criminal Court and the countries that honor the court’s vision for global justice. The Court exists to ensure that those who perpetrate atrocities, including genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes, are held accountable.
Add your name to the letter below to voice your support for the Court and efforts for global justice and accountability.
Dear Secretary Rubio,
As a supporter of American Jewish World Service and someone concerned with global human rights, I am writing to urge you to end your campaign against the International Criminal Court and your efforts to intimidate the states, actors, and institutions that honor the Court’s vision for global justice.
The Court exists to ensure that those who perpetrate atrocities, such as genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes, are held accountable. Weakening the Court only serves to further erode the U.S.’s credibility on international justice and weaken protections for grassroots human rights activists around the world. Accountability and international justice are not threats to sovereignty, but impunity is a threat to human rights everywhere.
Jewish history has taught us the importance of supporting justice for oppressed people and holding those who violate the inherent dignity of any human being accountable.
The U.S. has never been a party to the Court, so the U.S. should not interfere with the decisions of other nations and undermine the Court’s imperative to center accountability and human rights. I urge you to support the Court rather than threaten it.
Sincerely,
